Hi! My name is Amanda McKone (she/her) and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from NC State University (go pack!) and my Master of Social Work degree from East Carolina University. I am a second-generation Latina and am bilingual in both English and Spanish.
Seeking therapy can be hard and at times intimidating, so my goal is to create a safe compassionate therapeutic space where I can help empower my clients. I view therapy as a collaboration between therapist and client, and I want to create a space where we can work together to focus on your goals and help you see your strengths and resilience. Its’s my goal to make sure you feel supported, safe, and understood and work through any of life’s struggles.
I enjoy working with individuals 18 and older and families. I work well with anyone struggling with processing trauma and grief, life transitions, attachment issues, identity, perfectionism, and self-esteem, I also have a lot of experience working with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and OCD. I have a strong passion for working with neurodivergent individuals particularly those with autism spectrum disorder and ADHD. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and welcome those of all cultural and racial backgrounds.
I utilize various interventions including, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), DBT, Structural Family Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), and mindfulness approaches.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, being active/exercising, and cooking new recipes.
