Pressley Cox, LCMHC
Outpatient Psychotherapist & Co-Owner
Works with Individuals ages 18+ & Couples
My name is Pressley and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (14937), Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (25486), and Outpatient Psychotherapist. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from North Carolina State University and my Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from North Carolina Central University.
Trauma and difficult life circumstances can often disconnect us from ourselves and the world around us. This is normal. It’s a way to survive what may not have felt bearable at the time. Yet, even through the disconnection, your wholeness remains intact. My approach to therapy is focused on that wholeness. I hold the belief that every person has the innate ability to live a deeply meaningful life, and my goal as a therapist is to assist in the discovery of what this looks like for each person I work with.
Using radical acceptance, parts work, values-based work, skill-building, mindfulness techniques, and somatic practices in sessions, I aim to help clients reconnect back to themselves. My therapeutic style is rooted in curiosity and incorporates a few different evidenced-based practices, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I am also trained in S.A.F.E. EMDR & can incorporate this into our sessions, as needed. Above all, I place a strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship, as I see it as the foundation of healing. It is my goal to ensure that each client feels safe, supported, and understood.
I have extensive experience working with trauma and attachment, OCD, addiction (process and substance), ADHD, relationship concerns, sex & sexuality concerns, depression, & anxiety. I also find value in working with individuals and couples who simply want to learn how to more effectively achieve their goals and live a fulfilling life. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and work with individuals ages 18 and older, and couples.
